From the Ashes - University of Edinburgh Community Grants Project
From the Ashes — it's a wrap!
What started with a book about dinosaurs became something much bigger. A celebration of creativity, community, and the kind of quiet courage that doesn't always get enough airtime.
From the Ashes was a community art project funded by the University of Edinburgh Community Grants scheme, bringing together East Lothian Young Carers, The Finola Trust, and Shorelark Community Artists at The Cockenzie Hub.

Inspired by Professor Steve Brusatte's The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, participants explored ideas of extinction, resilience, and what it means to adapt and thrive in a changing world. We did this through art workshops, field note journals and some brilliant conversations.
Professor Brusatte kindly took time to answer our questions about Dinosaurs!
The project culminated in a community exhibition on 25 and 26 April, and I'm so proud of every single person who took part.
The work on the walls in the Cockenzie Hub is thoughtful, bold, and full of life.

Thank you to everyone who came along, joined in, and made this project what it was.
You're amazing-a-saurus.
