October Watercolour Café in Gullane: A Festive Family Gathering
During the October half-term, we were thrilled to host two joyful Intergenerational Watercolour Cafés at the Cockenzie Studio and the Recreation Hall in Gullane—funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
These free, family-friendly events brought together over 30 children and young people, parents, grandparents, and wonderful volunteers from Gullane Village Association (GVA) for two afternoons of seasonal creativity and connection.
The community spaces buzzed with laughter and creativity as participants painted festive autumn-themed designs—from pumpkins and cosy cottages to swirling leaves and woodland animals. It was a relaxed, welcoming space where all ages could explore watercolour techniques, share ideas, and enjoy each other’s company.
Alongside the art-making, we served delicious café treats, giving everyone the chance to sit, chat, and soak in the cheerful community atmosphere. The event was a wonderful reminder of how art can bring generations together, spark imagination, and nurture a sense of belonging.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it these events so special. We’re already looking forward to our next family sessions in December for more festive fun—watch this space for details!
