This two-day workshop is designed to push your portrait practice further. Building on the foundations from our beginner class and helping you develop atmospheric faces.

✨ What to Expect

This is a step up from our introductory portrait sessions. Designed for those who've got the basics under their belt and are ready to experiment with confidence.

Over the two days, you'll work from a live model, explore different media and surfaces, and develop your own atmospheric style in a relaxed, supported studio environment.

🖌️ Day One – Warm Up & Explore

Work from a life model to warm up with drawing and mark-making
Loosen up your line and observation skills away from photo reference
Experiment with different media and surfaces to see what suits your style
Plenty of demos and one-to-one support throughout

🖌️ Day Two – Create Your Atmospheric Study

Bring together everything from Day One into a considered atmospheric portrait study
Explore mood, light, and texture with a more intuitive, expressive approach
Work independently with support close at hand whenever you need it
Leave with a completed piece and a head full of new ideas

💛 Who It's For

This workshop is for those who've attended our beginner portrait class (or have equivalent experience) and are comfortable working more independently. You'll get plenty of support along the way, but this session is about developing your own voice even if you choose to work from practice sheets with step-by-step instruction.

Spaces are limited – save your easel early to avoid disappointment.
