Shorelark Arts CIC Receives National Lottery Funding to Host Community Art Workshops for Well-being

Shorelark Arts CIC is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded funding from the National Lottery Awards for All (Community Fund Scotland). This crucial support will enable Shorelark to host a 12-month programme of community art workshops aimed at promoting well-being.

The workshops are designed to be inclusive and accessible for all levels, specifically aimed at supporting carers, key workers, and members of the community who are facing the on-going challenges imposed by the rise in cost of living.

The unique design of these workshops places emphasis on the creative process over any fixed outcome. This approach encourages participants to enjoy exploring various media and techniques, which in turn builds their confidence and provides a supportive space for mindful creativity.

The project, spearheaded by Shorelark founder and community art teacher, Kat Healy, is a testament to the power of art in fostering community and promoting well-being. This initiative aligns with Shorelark's mission of creating inclusive and supportive environments where creativity and well-being go hand in hand.

"I am delighted that Shorelark has been awarded funding from the National Lottery. This allows us to continue supporting community members with accessible, free creative experiences designed to enhance well-being. Throughout my career as a performer and artist, I’ve found creative practice essential in keeping me grounded and inspired. Concentrating on the creative process without worrying about the end result is a wonderful way to alleviate negative thoughts and enjoy being in the moment." (Healy, May 2024).
